Buying CPU coolers: common questions
Do I need a CPU cooler?
Many AMD chips and Intel non-K chips come with a cooler in the box, and it works. A cheap tower cooler makes the PC quieter and keeps boost clocks up. K-series Intel and most X3D chips come without one.
Air cooler or AIO liquid cooler?
A good dual-tower air cooler matches a 240 mm AIO, costs less and has nothing to leak. AIOs look cleaner and help with very hot chips like the i9.
Will the cooler fit my socket?
Most current coolers include mounts for AM4, AM5 and LGA1700. Check the socket list on the cooler page, and the height against your cabinet.
