Buying graphics cards: common questions

Which graphics card do I need for 1080p gaming?

An RTX 5060, RTX 4060 or Radeon RX 9060 XT runs almost every game at 1080p high. On a tight budget an Intel Arc B580 or an older RTX 3060 still does the job at medium to high settings.

How much video memory (VRAM) is enough?

8 GB is fine for 1080p but newer games can run out at high settings. For 1440p or for keeping a card a few years, get 12 GB or 16 GB.

NVIDIA or AMD?

NVIDIA has DLSS and stronger ray tracing. AMD often gives more VRAM and more frames for the same money. Look at the FPS in the games you actually play.

What power supply does my graphics card need?

Each graphics card page lists a recommended wattage. As a rough guide, an RTX 5060 class card is happy on 550 W, an RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT wants 750 W.
